Features of Oakwood Fire-Rated Internal Doors

Fire-rated internal doors provide numerous benefits that enhance overall safety and aesthetic appeal. The variety of classic and contemporary designs means they integrate perfectly into just about any interior scheme, so you can prioritise safety without compromising elegance.

Just Your Style

Most of our internal doors include a fire door version, meaning you can maximise safety without skimping on style and quality. This variety provides greater flexibility in interior design. Modern styles such as the Pattern 10 White primed or the Painted Grey Pintando prefinished look great in your home or office. More traditional styles include the Malmo Prefinished Black or the Ely Prefinished Oak. Along with complementing your décor, these doors provide you with the safety you need for your building requirements.

Let There Be Light

Our glazed fire doors for internal applications let light into your room while still offering fire protection. Options include the Oak Verona with Clear Glass Untreated and the Oak Shaker with Obscure Glass Untreated. All of the glass in our internal glazed doors is toughened safety glass to ensure you'll receive the protection and quality that you need while still maintaining style.

Keep the Noise Down

Some of our Solid FD30 Fire Doors are acoustic-tested up to 31dB, which is useful if you're developing a house for multiple occupants where sound barriers are important to tenants. For example, traditional Fire-Rated Oak Ely untreated or prefinished doors and Oak Galway doors are acoustic-tested up to 31 dB. For a more contemporary design, the Oak Seville, the Oak Ravello, and the Oak Valencia are also acoustically tested up to 31 dB.

British Fire Rating Requirements for Fire-Rated Internal Doors

In the UK, internal fire doors must comply with the fire safety regulations provided by the British Government. These doors are rigorously tested and rated to withstand fire for a minimum period, typically 30 minutes (FD30) or 60 minutes (FD60). The British Standard BS 476 Part 22 specifies the requirements for fire resistance testing of these doors. Additionally, the doors must be installed with appropriate seals and ironmongery to maintain their integrity during a fire, ensuring they effectively contain fire and smoke.

Key Requirements for Internal Fire-Rated Doors

When it comes to ensuring the safety and integrity of a building during a fire, internal fire-rated doors play a crucial role. These doors must adhere to specific standards and guidelines to effectively perform their function. Key requirements include:

  • FD30 and FD60 Ratings: Indicating 30 and 60 minutes of fire resistance, respectively.
  • Compliance with BS 476 Part 22: Ensuring the doors meet stringent fire resistance standards.
  • Proper Installation: Using certified seals and hardware to maintain fire containment.

Understanding these requirements helps ensure that your fire-rated internal doors provide the highest level of protection and comply with UK fire safety regulations.
